Meet the Gwinganna Chefs

Steven Crawford and Justin Addie are our co-chefs at Gwinganna. These 2 extraordinary chefs lead the team who prepare all the delicious meals we serve each week on retreat. Working together, they are a seamless team who share their knowledge and skills.

Chef Justin Addie

Chef Justin Addie, a Canadian native, developed a profound affinity for agriculture during his upbringing on a substantial farm. In his early twenties, his culinary voyage began, spanning Canada's bar and grill venues and upscale steakhouses. At 25, he became the Executive Chef at Ottawa's 'The Exchange', renowned for its British cuisine.

Transitioning to Marriott hotels, he initially opened and led the restaurant operations, then shifted to the banquet department as Sous Chef, contributing to event success. Seeking culinary diversity, he honed European cuisine skills in Germany, cooking for football legends such as Ronaldo and Messi at a hotel affiliated with Bayern Munich FC.

In New Zealand, Justin managed a vegan, gluten-free café and learned pastry arts. He joined the 'Avatar' film series catering team, travelling across New Zealand.

Since 2020, Justin has played a pivotal role as Co-Head Chef at Gwinganna, prioritizing culinary experiences that please the palate and promote wellness.
