This year marks a very special milestone for Gwinganna: 20 years of welcoming guests to the mountain.

Since opening our doors, Gwinganna has grown and evolved in many ways, but the intention at the heart of what we do has remained the same: to create a place where people can step away from the demands of everyday life, reconnect with themselves and discover practical ways to support their wellbeing long after they leave.

Set across 200 hectares of protected Gold Coast hinterland, the land has always been an integral part of the Gwinganna experience. It is here, surrounded by native bushland, wildlife and expansive views, that we bring together expert-led wellness programs, restorative spa therapies, organic cuisine, movement, education and time in nature.

Twenty years of evolving wellness

Wellness has changed considerably over the past two decades, and so have we.

Today, the Gwinganna experience brings together the foundations that have shaped us from the beginning with new developments in health, science and personalised wellbeing.

Our evolving approach includes curated wellness pathways, medical diagnostics such as DNA and microbiome testing, deeper nature immersions and a growing calendar of special interest retreats led by some of Australia’s most respected health and wellness experts.

For many of our guests, however, the most meaningful part of Gwinganna remains something much simpler: having the time and space to stop, reflect and consider what they need next.

As our General Manager, Melanie James, reflects:

“Twenty years of Gwinganna is a testament to the people, values and land that have shaped this. It is a moment to honour our community and those who have walked the mountain with us, while looking ahead.

“Our focus lies with meeting guests where they are, with experiences and practical tools that support a healthier, happier life.”

Caring for the place we call home

As Gwinganna has evolved, our commitment to protecting the environment around us has remained constant.

Proudly Eco Certified and accredited with Land for Wildlife, we continue to support conservation through regeneration projects, our organic gardens and on-site beehives, alongside long-standing partnerships with Currumbin Wildlife Hospital and Wildcare Australia.

Our approach to wellness has always recognised that our own wellbeing is deeply connected to the health of the natural world around us.

Looking to the next chapter

Over the years, Gwinganna has been fortunate to receive recognition both in Australia and internationally, including 2025 Best Luxury Healing & Wellness Retreat – Global Winner at the World Luxury Hotel Awards, 2025 Best Wellness Retreat in Oceania at the World Spa Awards and 2025 Best Integrative Wellness Retreat at the Spa & Wellness Awards.

But as we celebrate 20 years, what matters most are the thousands of guests who have spent time here, the team who have shaped Gwinganna and the community that continues to be part of our story.

Twenty years on, we remain committed to creating a place where people can reconnect with what matters, better understand their wellbeing and leave with meaningful changes they can carry into everyday life.

Here’s to the next chapter.
